The planners had a number of questions which we are not yet able to answer. They are mainly about the construction: what space would be taken by the contractors, access, public right of way, etc. We had already commissioned an engineering consultancy to work out how it would be built, and their report should answer most of the questions. So we have withdrawn our application and will reapply when we are ready. Thank you to the many who wrote in support!
The delay means that we cannot expect to get it built this year - but perhaps that was never very likely. So although disappointing, it means there is no longer such a rush to get everything through. Should we have delayed our planning application? Our application is very unusual, and in such cases the planners can probably always find something to query. We now know what is needed, and we have time to plan properly and get it right.
